Spring is a great time to plant a new lawn or rejuvenate an older one. Cooler temperatures and frequent rain in the spring season is a great environment for fresh new blades of grass. Select warm season grass is like Bermuda or Centipede for grass planting.
Follow these steps to a great lawn this summer:
- Prepare bare soil. Till the top 2 to 3 inches of the soil with a tiller or a garden rake. Discard of any rocks branches or other debris. Apply fertilizer to that area with a drop orspreader.
- Prepare seedbed and establishished lawn. Cut the grass as low as possible which makes it easier for the grass seeds to reach the soil. Rake the grass and the tap 1/4 into the soil underneath it.
- Plant grass seed. So the seat with the spreader onto the prepared ground walking back-and-forth in rows. Turn the rake so the lines are facing up and drag it across the yard to cover the seeds. cover the ground with a thin layer of straw mulch. Are you sure and water the lawn each day into the grass is 2 inches tall. Take a vantage of spring rain showers and you can water less.
Tip: If you have a small lawn you can sell the grass seeds by hand and you can sew additional grass to fill in any bare spots.
I love his tips and enjoy a beautiful lawn this summer!
